I've been asking myself this question a lot lately. Certain comic books are going for crazy prices. With me being a little obsessed with the first Silver Surfer series and his appearances in the Fantatic Four Series I've been looking into purchasing all the key issues.

Now Silver Surfer #1 prices (which is the book I want the most of all) vary between 150 to 4000 Euro on eBay depending on what type of quality you're looking for. To me it is important that there's nothing written or stamped on the cover and that it doesn't look totally messed up. Now with that I will have to invest at least 250-300 Euro to get me a copy of the book.

I think that is a price range which is still acceptable for something you want really badly and Silver Surfer issue 1 is pretty much my holy grail right now. If I'd have 4000 bucks to spend I'd definitely get me the CGC 9.6 graded version of the book but since that is totally out of the picture for me I'll settle for a 300 € copy as soon as I find a good one.

I don't really see myself ever spending more than that on a book unless I somehow manage to get rich. 300 is already a lot for a comic book if you ask me but it's certainly worth it in this case.

Only question remaining is, how long will it take me to actually get the first issue of the Silver Surfer?
